Bautz Supplies Aerosol Can Buttoning Machine AeroSAM for Lubricant Spray Heads with Spray Tubes

The customer was a manufacturer of Industrial Aerosols who has Bautz Leak testing machines on site. They were looking for a purpose built machine that would increase the output of their line from 20 to 40 actuators per min. The new system was to be fed manually. This would keep the equipment cost low and eliminate the need for change parts to run other actuator sizes. The operator’s involvement would maximise flexibility to handle other sizes and shapes in the future.

In the Aerosol Industry Bautz are known for their leak detectors and Valve function testing machines. Bautz has just delivered its first Actuator placement or buttoning machine to place actuators with folding spray tubes.

The actuator is used for lubricant sprays and the spray tube allows the end user to target the specific area to lubricate. However the bulky size and dimensions did not fall within the scope of standard solutions in the industry. As such the machine was built to suit the actuator. The overall dimensions of the machine are small only 600 x 840 mm.

Double Dosing Stick Pack and Sachet Machines

This technology can be applied to machines ranging from lab scale R&D machines – that are used for conducting stability tests and clinical trials – as well as high speed full production units. We are capable of handling different width sizes for the stick packs or sachets, but in particular if powders can be handled with micro auger filler then we can fill into packs as narrow as 25mm. This new approach to stick pack and sachet filling could lead to a new trend in pharmaceutical projects because it guarantees the correct mixture of products in each pack.

Manufacturers in the Food and Beverage industry could also reap the advantages of this technology. Coffee manufacturers in particular would benefit from being able to combine premium fine powder and granulated coffee in the same stick pack or sachet.

Rohrer Develops RS570 Small Scale Sterile Blister Sealing Machine

Rohrer has recently built the RS570 small scale sterile blister sealing machine to package High Potency drugs. The RS570 small scale sterile blister sealing machine is designed for manual blister sealing in containment. Unlike its sister the R560 the RS570 is designed fully cGMP for sterile packing applications. Containment solution with Glove ports allow the operator to place seal products on small batch runs.

The R560 or R760 machines can be used to form the blister trays. The Formed trays and products to be filled are placed manually into the containment. The operator then fills the trays and seals them inside the RS570. In order to operate the sealing head the operator has to press buttons with both hands. This ensures that he cannot trap himself in the sealing station.

Once the blister trays have been filled and sealed inside the containment the products can be removed from the RS570. The R560 that formed the trays can be re-tooled with a Punch Perforation tool and used to punch the Sealed Blister Trays.

The RS570 has been used to fill powders, liquid and tablets.

The sealing area of the RS570 matches the 184 x 119 mm of the R560 and R760 machines.

The Choice is yours – containment customised to your requirements

The containment for the RS570 small scale sterile blister sealing machine depend on the specific requirements of the products and process. For single products where cleaning is limited a Flexible containment as shown above is relatively cost effective. The Skin of the containment act as a disposable skin that would need to be replaced to run a different product.
A fixed containment would allow for cleaning.
Glove ports are standard for any containment solution. However options such as sleuths, RTP and the full range of containment accessories are available. The image below shows the RS570 with fixed containment, glove ports, sleuths and RTP:

Sterile Blister Sealing for Small Batches

The RS570 is the missing relative of the Rohrer Family of Machinery. It fills the Gap between the recently launched R950HP fully automatic Blister Machine in High containment and the update of the small scale “Table Top”  R550 to the R560 blister machine.

The R560 can be used to manufacture small blister batches. The Tooling is manually changed to allow forming, sealing and punching to take place on the same machine. It’s the ideal companion for small batches. Tooling available includes nitrogen purge tooling and one step sealing punching tools.

Small but Powerfull

The Rs570 is fitted with all the standard controls of a machine. All functions are controlled via a HMI (Human-Machine-Interface), basically a touch-screen computer which also ensures monitoring of all process parameters. Data logging can be integrated as well. The RS570 meets the requirements of CFR21 part 11 and Annex 11.

Upscaling

The RS570 can be semi-automated to allow some automation of the blister handling functions in the Blister station. The scope of any automation can be tailored to your specific requirements.

Bautz has recently shipped an Aerosol Valve Function Tester for MDI inhalation aerosols. The customer was looking for a flexible machine to use in Product development. He wanted to be able to set the number of sprays as well as spray duration. Weigh cells were to measure the amount discharged. Bautz developed the VFT 60 in response to their customers requirements.

Something old, something new…

The VFT 60 is based on their established optical valve function testers already in the field in the pharmaceutical industry. Using the same turret mechanism for turning the can and placing into the spray testing station the VFT 60 uses optical infra red sensors to measure the spray. The sensors verify the given spray duration.

Unlike its predecessors the VFT 60 has two integrated weigh cells. The fingers on the turret deposit the can onto each weighcell before and after spraying. This allow the system to calculate the exact weigh discharged in the spray test. During the spray test Servo motors control the distance the valve is actuated. These can be adjusted from the HMI and saved in the recipe for each format.

The machine also measures the spring return force of the valves.

The Unit was shipped with an In-feed turntable with in-feed plate allowing the customer to load and unload directly from the Aerosol Valve testing machine.

At the out-feed the 3 reject bins ensure the rejects can be identified by cause. The operator can assign reject causes to each bin.

JW Vertical Cartoner used as 5 Litre Canister Packer

JW Has just built a vertical cartoner which packs 4 and 5 litre containers into Corrugated cases. The canister packer functions as a case packer. The cartoner runs at 15 cases per minute. The bottles are loaded onto the conveyor manually. A pick and place arm loads the bottles into the cartons from above. Booklets are placed into the empty case before the canister is loaded. The carton has a window on the top face which allows the user to access the canisters handle. The case is glued top and bottom. A tear strip allows the user to open the case.

The cartoner runs at 15 cases per minute.  The bottles are loaded onto the conveyor manually. A pick and place arm loads the bottles into the cartons from above. Booklets are placed into the empty case before the canister is loaded. The carton has a window on the top face which allows the user to access the canisters handle. The case is glued top and bottom. A tear strip allows the user to open the case.

At the outfeed an articulated arm robot palletises the cases, picking 4 cases together using a clamping gripper and placing them on the pallet. Pallet changeover is manual. Between each layer the robot places an interlayer onto the pallet. During pallet changeover the filled boxes are accumulated at the out-feed conveyor of the case packer. When the pallet is nearly full a warning is displayed on the HMI. When the operator is ready to remove the full pallet from the cell, he notifies the system of his intention by pressing a button at the entry to the cell. A this time an internal shutter closes to separate the area the operator can access from the second palletising position where the robot is still working. The entry shutter opens allowing the operator to safely remove the full pallet.

Smallest Footprint drives customer to buy JW Vertical Cartoner with Palletising Cell

The machine seen on the video above is based on the successful CCM-AV vertical cartoner. The size of the boxes meant that the cartoner had to be re-designed with a wider format wheel. The format cartridges holding the boxes were also re-designed to handle the 5Kg weight. The safety guards are made of safety glass which, unlike polymer alternatives, is resistant to abrasive chemical cleaning and looks good for longer.

Rychiger delivers FS200 Liquid Filling Sealing Machine for Diagnostic Assays

Rychiger recently delivered a compact liquid filling and foil sealing machine for a customer in the diagnostics industry. The customer wanted to fill pre-molded 8 cavity assay kits with 8 different reagents. The liquids to fill included suspensions and beads. The cavities had to be foil sealed with a single foil strip. The required fill accuracy was +- 1%. Fill volume in each cavity was as little as 30 microliters.

Rychiger recently delivered a compact liquid filling and foil sealing machine for a customer in the diagnostics industry. The customer wanted to fill pre-molded 8 cavity assay kits with 8 different reagents. The liquids to fill included suspensions and beads. The cavities had to be foil sealed with a single foil strip. The required fill accuracy was +- 1%. Fill volume in each cavity was as little as 30 microliters.
The FS 200 mono-block liquid filler and sealer was ideally suited to this application. In two lane design the FS 200 can produce up to 100 assay kits per minute (up to 200 with 4 lanes). The assays are fed from a vibratory feeder onto the filling machines indexing rotary turret. At the filling station piston pumps dose the liquids into each of the 16 cavities simultaneously.
The lid foil arrives at the machine from roll stock. The lid itself is punched in a separate station to avoid particles being shed over the assay kits. A pick and place unit places them onto the assay kits where they are heat sealed. Sealing is at the heart of Rychigers competencies, with over 40 years of experience in the sealing of pre-made containers. The filled and sealed product then exits the machine. At the exit 2 labels are applied to the assay. Of these, one label is in-line printed with variable batch data. Vision control systems verify fill level in the cavities, label presence, barcode legibility and the accuracy of the printed data. Subsequently the assays are automatically loaded into trays and racks ready for down-stream packaging.

Track and Trace Tamper Evident Carton Labeller Shipping to Customer

Our revolutionary Track and Trace Tamper Evident Carton Labeller uses barcode scanner to read barcodes and automatically adjusts format sets based on the product.

One of the main advantages of this machine over its competitors is that it uses lugged belt during transport which means the cartons don’t get squeezed in between 2 belts. This allows perfectly clean and flat surface for the print and apply labeller. The unit reaches the speed of up to 250 products per minute, but the potential of the machine is 300 products per minute.

The ergonomics of the Track and Trace Tamper Evident Carton Labeller is second to none. The label rolls are located inside the machine frame and they are easy to change. The working area is easily accessible.

AVR Linear Capper – Changeover Improvements

The AVR cappers new improvements minimise change parts, cutting out cost and reducing changeover times. Even more changeover functions are now controlled the control panel.

The AVR linear capper was previously designed with automatic height adjustment via the HMI. For round containers it is now no longer necessary to change the rake or in-feed guides. The only container change parts are now the bottle clamps. These are removed in seconds and click into place. The spacing of the containers is now format part free and controlled from the cappers recipe system. This significantly reduces changeover and run in times.

Innovative bowl feeders allow many different caps to be run without change parts reducing initial outlay, changeover time and storage space.

When built as a Monobloc filler/capper a new modular system allows liquid filling stations to be swapped with tablet counting stations.

New Patented Nitrogen Density Leak Detection

This method is designed as a economic alternitaive to LIWO helium detection systems.
